Dragon Beads Boba – a Fun Gimmick

During our visit to the Shilin Night Market, we also tried a couple bobas. One was forgettable, and one was the Dragon Beads boba – what the stall advertises as “filling pearl tapioca.” Boba filled with flavors. Crazy.

Sorry I can’t really tell you where the stall is. It’s outside the new main night market structure where the basement food court is. But I get so disoriented among the hundreds of stalls that I can’t tell which direction from the building this boba stall was. Oh well.

As you can see, they have boba in several flavors – peanut, black sesame, red bean, green tea. You can also choose the type of tea you want.

Here’s a close-up of the bowl of peanut bobas. I don’t really know why are a bit green tinged.

This shot is to show you that it comes with the biggest straw ever mass-produced. To accommodate the giant bobas.

And here’s a close-up of one whole boba and one boba cut in half.

Overall, the milk tea was OK but too sweet. They claim to use fresh milk (as a lot of boba places do to distinguish themselves from those using non-dairy creamer).

Eating the boba is pretty fun. They are huge, so watch out you don’t choke from them. But it’s fun to get a little extra flavor in your chew.

I don’t think I would go back, especially given that stomach real estate is precious at the night market. But I’m glad I tried it out.
