Bread Lounge — Focaccia for Breakfast

When last we visited Bread Lounge, we checked out the kouign amann and found it a little lacking. Since then, I’ve seen BL’s bread around town and am about ready to say they make the best baguette in town. DTLA Cheese’s fantastic sandwiches feature this bread.

They also feature focaccia, which are really more like pizzas. The Gringo features 2 eggs, bacon, crumbled Feta, cherry tomatoes, making it really more of a competitor for the breakfast sandwiches that are having an Eggslut-induced moment.

The Gringo is really good — perfectly chewy, charred bread with a generous serving of salty feta cheese. The bacon adds more flavor and the tomatoes a nice sweetness and tartness. The eggs are OK, but since these are not cooked to order they are cooked hard.

It’s huge, so you might want to share. But grabbing coffee at Stumptown and sharing one of these focaccia makes for a great Arts District breakfast to go.
