The Girl and the Fig — Sonoma — a Classic Bistro

6 Apr

If I only had to recommend one place to eat while visiting the town of Sonoma (and nearby Glen Ellen and Kenwood), it would be the Girl and the Fig. A classic French brasserie on the northwest corner of Sonoma town square, GF is exactly what you would expect from a lively but not fancy French restaurant. And it’s the one restaurant in town to feature wines from outside of Sonoma.

The place feels almost like a lively dinner party, with animated conversations and parties of people buzzed from an afternoon of wine tasting.

Classic dishes like pan-roasted chicken done really well with well-crisped skin.

A simple salad with pancetta and apples.

The dining room is cozy.

It’s on the NW corner of the Sonoma town square, right across from Walt Wines (née Roessler Cellars, or maybe RIP) and the El Dorado Kitchen and Hotel (below).20131203-175530.jpg
