Cafe Citti, Sonoma — a Nice Red Sauce Italian Break Between Wineries

There isn’t much to say about Cafe Citti, a longtime local favorite on Highway 12 near Sonoma (it’s actually in the town of Kenwood). Even though it’s tucked between the ridiculously ornate Ledson faux castle and Kenwood Vineyards, it’s a laid-back place full of regulars. I’ve never seen a wine bus parked there, and rarely do you see anyone wearing a blazer. But it’s one of the better lunch options if you’re wine tasting in the Sonoma-Kenwood-Glen Ellen area.

Cafe Citti has been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Now before you close your browser window, hear me out. If you can ignore the blond tips and the bro back slapping, DDD features mom and pop restaurants that make straightforward, good food from scratch.

That’s exactly what you get here. It’s not food that would take Manhattan by storm, but would be a neighborhood favorite in most places. I like their Caesar salad because it is super garlicky. I also always get the ravioli alla Citti. The light tomato sauce is like a slightly better vodka sauce.

Yum! I love Cafe Citti (so much I just wrote a blog post about it, myself!). And yes, ignore DDD and enjoy it – total comfort food and a refreshing, non-pretentious experience in Wine Country. Cheers!
